Jayson Hu is the visionary founder of Fairest Creature, an
ultra-premium Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that challenges
conventional wine wisdom by prioritizing human artistry over
terroir.
A former IC design engineer in Silicon Valley, Jayson
discovered his passion for wine tasting shortly after entering the
workforce. What began with an affordable bottle of
Châteauneuf-du-Pape evolved into an obsessive pursuit of
perfection, leading him through the world's most celebrated
wines.
Jayson's approach to wine appreciation is rooted in critical
analysis: seeking out faults until he finds a wine he cannot fault.
This rigorous methodology has shaped his unconventional philosophy. "I'm not a
worshipper of terroir," he declares. "The only thing I believe in is people." Through
years of careful tasting and comparison across vintages and regions, Jayson came to
believe that while Mother Nature imparts intangible magic, the juice in your glass is
ultimately the result of individual hard work and skill.
Beginning in 2012, he began importing fine wine from California to China,
developing deep relationships with the region's most celebrated producers., Jayson
has spent more than a decade immersing himself in Napa Valley's elite wine culture
and has become recognized as the leading Chinese authority on Napa wine.
When even the most hedonistic Napa Cabernets became routine, Jayson knew it was
time to create his own wine—not just any wine, but THE wine. His ambition for
Fairest Creature was audacious yet simple: to create the best Cabernet Sauvignon
ever conceived, transcending regional boundaries, single vintages, and individual
winemakers.
To realize this vision, Jayson assembled an unprecedented dream team: three of
Napa's most talented winemakers—Benoit Touquette, Thomas Rivers Brown, and
Philippe Melka—each recognized for the consistency of their skill in crafting faultless
Cabernet Sauvignons. He then brought legendary Bordeaux enologist Michel
Rolland on board to create a master blend from the top barrels.
For Fairest Creature, Jayson's philosophy emphasizes blending as the most
important element of great Cabernet Sauvignon, giving each winemaker creative
freedom to express their personal style rather than evoking a sense of place.
